Rock Crawler Tire Inserts & Foams
Foam and silicone inserts for crawler tires.
The insert does most of the work in a crawler tire. It sets how far the tire folds under load and how fast it comes back, which decides whether you get a contact patch on a rock or a bounce off it. A good tire on a collapsed insert will lose to a cheaper tire that is properly supported.
These are filed by the wheel size they serve, but the thing that has to match is the tire. Where a listing quotes a diameter or a range, check it against the tire you are running, not against the wheel.
Foam and silicone behave differently and neither is simply better. Silicone holds its shape longer, foam is more forgiving on impact. If you are not sure, the tire maker's own insert is the safe answer.
